Is It Worth Grading My Card? Find Out Before You Pay

The grading question is math, not magic: will the card be worth more after grading than the fee you paid? iCollecta gives you both sides of the equation free — a pre-grade that predicts the grade, and sold comps that show what each grade actually sells for.

Know the grade before you spend

Grading fees run $15–$100+ per card. SlabVision's pre-grade tells you which of your cards would come back high — and which would be money burned.

See the payoff at every grade level

The Comps Index shows what your card sells for at each grade — if a PSA 9 and a PSA 10 sell the same, grading isn't buying you anything.

The rule of thumb, made simple

Grade when: high pre-grade + big price gap between grades + valuable player. Skip when: any one of those fails. The tools check all three for you.

Worth Grading? FAQ

Is it worth getting my cards graded?

Only when the graded value exceeds the fee plus shipping — typically cards with high pre-grades and a real price gap between grade levels. The pre-grade and comps data answer this per card, before you spend anything.

What cards are worth grading in 2026?

Vintage in strong condition, star rookies, and low-population cards — the ones where a 10 multiplies the value. Pre-grade first: condition is the decider, and SlabVision measures it in seconds.

How much does it cost to grade a card?

Typically $15–$100+ per card depending on the service level and turnaround. That's exactly why you pre-grade first — one avoided submission pays for nothing, but one avoided bad submission saves the whole fee.

Does grading increase a card's value?

For the right card, dramatically — a PSA 10 can sell for many multiples of the raw card. For the wrong card, it locks in a loss. The pre-grade plus comps check tells you which one you're holding.
