Trade Escrow — How Swaps Work

Every card-for-card trade in the Trade Room runs through iCollecta's escrow system, so both collectors are protected on every swap.

• How does trade escrow work on iCollecta?

  Every card-for-card trade in the Trade Room runs through escrow. Once a trade is accepted, both collectors pay a commitment deposit and ship their card to the iCollecta hub with tracking. The hub verifies both cards against the trade, the cards are forwarded to their new owners, and when both sides confirm receipt, the escrow closes and both deposits are refunded.

• What is the minimum card value for a trade?

  A trade is viable when the card on each side is worth at least $25. If either side falls below the $25 minimum, the trade can't be opened through the Trade Room — the escrow system is built for swaps where both collectors have real skin in the game.

• What is the commitment deposit?

  Each collector puts down a 10% commitment deposit on their side of the trade. The deposit is refundable: it's returned in full when both collectors confirm they received their card. If someone backs out after accepting or ships a card that doesn't match the trade, their deposit is forfeited under the escrow terms.

• Why does iCollecta require a deposit at all?

  The 10% deposit keeps every accepted trade honest. It filters out no-shows and low-effort offers before anyone prints a shipping label, and because it's refundable, honest collectors never lose a cent — the deposit only leaves your pocket if you break the deal.
